Registry

Methodology

We publish verification-dated school records from primary accreditors and official school disclosures — not from secondary rankings or brochure copy.

Page last reviewed 2026-11-02

What we verify

For each school in the registry we record identity (canonical name, country, official site), accreditation status by body, term when published, Title IV eligibility when known, and supporting source URLs. Cost, MCAT, GPA, and outcomes appear only when we can cite a primary schedule or disclosure.

Primary sources

We do not treat Wikipedia, aggregator blogs, or competing lead-gen directories as authoritative for accreditation claims.

Verification cadence

Each school record carries a verification date — the day we confirmed the status against primary sources, not the school’s marketing date. The current registry was last verified on 2026-11-02, covering 27 schools, 35 accreditation rows, and 18 country labels.

  • Big 4 and high-traffic schools (SGU, Ross, AUC, Saba, AUA, and others driving compare traffic): re-check CAAM-HP / ACCM / NVAO / GMDC lists at least quarterly, and sooner if an agency publishes a decision.
  • Full set: after agency list updates, major news, or a correction report.
  • Corrections SLA (target): acknowledge within 5 business days; if the report cites a primary URL we can verify, update the record within 10 business days. Material accreditation errors take priority over optional fields.

Labeling rules

Public labels never upgrade the agency's own language. Short version:

  • Unknown > wrong claim. Conflict or ambiguity → status unknown plus the source link.
  • Do not say “accredited” alone when the agency status is with conditions, provisional, candidacy, probation, denied, or withdrawn.
  • “Assessed”, “site visit completed”, or “decision pending” is not accreditation.
  • One canonical school name everywhere; aliases only in aliases[].

Record validation

Every school record must have a verification date, at least one accreditation entry with a body, status, and source URL, and a non-empty sources list. Cost figures require a source URL. Any annual tuition figure shown in the cost calculator comes from a published school schedule — never invented.

Public dataset

The full accreditation registry is available as machine-readable files generated from the same school JSON at build time:

For crawlers and automated tools: the robots directives are at /robots.txt and the full URL sitemap is at /sitemap.xml. A computed accreditation report summarises registry figures by status and agency.

See the changelog for recent verification notes.

Corrections

If something is wrong, we update the record, advance the verification date, and keep an audit trail. See how to report an error.

What we never do

  • Invent tuition, USMLE pass rates, or Match percentages without a primary, dated source URL.
  • Upgrade agency status in UI (“fully accredited”) when the stored status is with conditions, provisional, candidacy, probation, denied, or withdrawn.
  • Rank schools as “best” or sell placement for editorial label changes.
  • Treat secondary directories, Wikipedia, or brochure PDFs alone as accreditation authority.
