Caribbean medical schools MCAT requirements

An honest overview of MCAT policies at Caribbean MD programs — what varies by school, where to check, and why this registry doesn't publish per-school cutoffs.

Short answer: MCAT requirements vary by school and change between intakes. We do not publish per-school MCAT cutoffs we cannot source. Check each school's current admissions page and the registry for the note we recorded, then confirm with the school directly.

Why we don't publish specific MCAT cutoffs

Caribbean medical school admissions policies — including MCAT requirements, minimum scores, and whether the MCAT is required at all — change frequently. Publishing a specific score without a dated primary source would spread misinformation.

Our schema requires a costSourceUrl for tuition figures and enforces the same honesty principle for admissions notes: we record what we can source, and we say "verify on official admissions page" when we cannot.

What varies between schools

| Factor | Varies how | |---|---| | MCAT required at all | Some schools do not require it (verify per school) | | Minimum composite score | Differs by program and cohort | | Minimum section scores | Some schools set section minimums separately | | Score age / validity | Varies — some schools accept scores up to 5 years old | | Conditional vs required | Some accept applicants conditionally without MCAT | | Policy by intake | January, April, August cohorts may differ |

How to find the current policy

  1. Official school admissions page — linked from each school profile on this registry
  2. Contact the school's admissions office directly — policies can update mid-cycle
  3. School-specific notes in this registry — where we recorded an admissions note with a source

Big-4 MCAT policy notes (check official pages for current requirements)

This registry records an mcatNotes field when we have a sourced note. All four Big-4 schools currently say "verify on the official admissions page" in our records — because admissions policies change and we will not invent specific numbers. Visit each profile and click through to the official site:

Is the MCAT required for Caribbean schools?

Some Caribbean programs have historically not required the MCAT, or have accepted students who scored lower than U.S. allopathic programs typically require. This is one reason applicants consider Caribbean programs — but it is not the only factor, and it does not remove the challenge of USMLE Steps, clinical rotations, and the residency match later.

What the MCAT tests vs what medical school requires

The MCAT tests scientific knowledge and reasoning as a predictor of early medical school performance. It does not test clinical skills, persistence through long program timelines, or residency match competitiveness — which are all relevant for Caribbean school decisions. Consider the full picture alongside accreditation and pathway eligibility.

  3. CAAM-HP assessed programs — accreditation is separate from MCAT policy
  4. ECFMG eligibility — downstream eligibility that matters more than an MCAT cutoff alone
